Original language description
The paper deals with loosening and migration of cementless acetabular cups into the pelvis that belongs to the most serious therapeutic complications arising sometimes several months to years after operation. The aseptic loosening of the cup is mainly influenced by two mechanical factors: ultrahigh molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene wear and initial cancellous bone stresses. The geometry of the acetabular cups was designed directly in ANSYS and imported to the database file containing the geometry ofthe pelvic bone generated from the CT scans. Research was concentrated on the analysis of contact stresses and strains.
