Design of Equiripple FIR Notch Filters

Result description

In several DSP applications the removal of power line interference is desired while leaving the broad-band signal unchanged. This task can be accomplished by introducing the FIR notch filter. THE analytical design procedure for the optimal equiripple notch FIR filter is introduced. The pass-band of a notch filter is optimal in the Chebyshev sense. The degree formula and the differential equation for the generating polynomial of the filter are presented. Based on the differential equation, a fast simplealgebraic recursive procedure for the evaluation of the impulse response of the filter is introduced. We also present the implementation of a notch filter on the digital processor TMS320C6711.
