This conference paper is aimed at usage of geographical information system (GIS) in transportation domain. State of art GIS is presented and expected future development discussed. An overview of related traffic tasks, data requirements and analyzes is showed. Main focus is pointed to telematics services base on GIS technology. Finally, the example of application is demonstrated.
