Original language description
Today, traffic and travel information TTI is a key element to enhance road safety and trip effectiveness in terms of money and time spent on the route. Recently, with increasing popularity of modern navigation systems, there is much more the need for well structured and machine readable traffic information that could be distributed over many bearers - this is where protocol TPEG has its main use. This paper presents overall view on TTI system based on the protocol, its several formats and how they couldbe used. Discusses different applications of TPEG, their main features/benefits and summarizes deployment aspects of such system in the Czech Republic. The paper also emphasize usage of independent method of localization of distributed traffic information, since it is main key to large scale deployment of TPEG based system.
