Czech Mathematicians and Their Role in the Development of National Mathematics in the Balkans
Original language description
The most important phenomena from the development of the Czech mathematical community in the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century is discussed and analyzed. The teaching and researching activities of some Czech mathematicians who went abroad (especially to the Balkans) are described. It is shown that they quickly obtained great regular positions there and started to play important roles in the development of "national" mathematics, mathematical education and local mathematical communities.
