Noise from Rail Transport within European Legislation on Interoperability
Original language description
This paper aims at rail transport and environment, particularly relation between noise from the rail transport and directives of the European Union. There are two main areas of legislation on traffic noise originating from the European Commission - Interoperability Directives and Environmental Noise Directive. At the beginning of this paper the noise sources from the rail transport are remarked. Next parts of this paper present Directives on the interoperability and their historical development. This paper mainly focuses on the role of noise from the rail transport in Interoperability Directives. Last but not least the possible measures to reduce noise from the rail transport are mentioned.
