Article discusses the use of the Maintenance errordecision aid (MEDA)methodologyin the investigation of eventsand subsequent data collection and assessment which is neededfor the collection and evaluation of safety indicators. The firstpart describesthemethodology of MEDA, the second outlines theuse of factors for the purposes of collecting safety indicators andevaluation of the safety performance of the organization in termsof implementation of risk factors contributing to the realizationof unwanted events.
