Segmentation of Public Transport Services and its Influence on Railway Capacity
Original language description
This paper deals with segmentation of periodic public transport services on Czech railway network. These services are segmented according to stopping pattern: A ? transit segment (mostly EuroCity, Intercity etc.) stops only in largest cities, B ? connecting segment (mostly fast trains) stops also in smaller cities, C ? collecting segment (suburban and regional trains) stops everywhere. There is also introduced a close connection between number of PuT segments on particular railway line, their period andrailway capacity consumption. In the case of single-track lines, two PuT segments usually do not leave much usable capacity to freight trains.
