Microscope Image Analysis Software for Evaluation of the Adhesion Strength of the Biocompatible Nano and Micro Thin Layers
Original language description
In the biomedical industry, nano/micro thin layers are a popular choice due to their biocompatibility. The scratch test is a widely used adhesion strength measurement method. The image analysis software for the evaluation of data obtained by various scratch systems was designed for identification of the failure points and calculation of the critical forces. To determine the distances of the coating-failure events from the beginning of the scratch, the software primarily uses a picture with scale standard and a scratch picture. The computational algorithm is based on the ratio of the real size of an object and the object size in the image. Scratching was performed by Revetest Xpress Scratch system and Dino-Lite Digital Microscope with its own software (DinoCapture) was used to take two pictures, i.e. picture of the scratch and picture of the Dino-Lite calibration sample. Both pictures must be taken using the same magnification, resolution, physical image sizes and contrast. Both images are then analyzed by our own designed software. In the case of a long scratch, the images of the scratch are captured and loaded one after another and the mouse cursor is used to mark out the relevant distances of the failure events. The calculated values of the critical forces and failure events distances of the scratch are then displayed in the own designed graphical user interface.
