Impact of Ionization on Fast Electron Emission Directions in High-Intensity Short-Pulse Laser-Target Interactions
Original language description
We have included optical field and collisional ionization processes into 1D3V relativistic electromagnetic PIC code and studied their influence on fast electron acceleration in short pulse laser target interaction. Electrons from inner shells are released with low kinetic energies near to the laser pulse maximum. Due to nonlinear effects in laser interactions with dense plasmas, these newly released electrons are often displaced from other electrons in the velocity space. For laser normal incidence, symmetrical pattern of high energy electrons with large angles to the target normal is observed. Electrons are accelerated preferentially along the target surface in laser propagation direction for p-polarized obliquely incident laser beam.
