Separation of Radionuclides from Complex Waste Matrices

  • Original language description

Options for treatment of three 'problematic' radioactive waste streams were investigated. The first of these streams was the WWER-type NPP evaporator concentrates, the second was the spent decontamination solutions with novel compositions recently introduced in decontamination processes at the WWER-type NPPs in the Czech Republic, and the third was highly saline PFR or DFR solutions resulting from the dissolution of the waste sodium or sodium-potassium coolants of the decommissioned Dounreay prototype fast reactors. Based on the results achieved, processes for the treatment of all these types of waste were proposed.
