    Fe:ZnSe is one of the most promising materials capable of generating broadly tunable laser radiation in the wavelength range from 3.5 to 5 um at the room-temperature. The aim of the presented project was to design and test laser with bulk Fe:ZnSe crystalas an active medium coherently pumped with Q-switched Er:YAG laser. The Er:YAG laser wavelength (2940 nm) corresponded to the maximum of the Fe:ZnSe absorption spectrum. The pump Er:YAG laser was electro-optically Q-switched with the help of LiNbO3 Pockels cell. The Er:YAG laser generated giant pulses with the length 160 - 200 ns and energy 20 - 30 mJ. The Fe:ZnSe laser resonator was adjusted and investigated. The generated beam structure, pulse waveform and energy were recorded. Maximal output energygenerated from the Fe:ZnSe laser was 200 uJ for the absorbed energy 5 mJ. The generated pulse waveform corresponded to the pump pulse waveform.
