    Luminescence of Cr3+ impurity ions was used as a probe in studies of low-temperature phase of nanocrystalline SrTiO3:Cr(0.1%) powders with average particle size between 13 - 100 nm that were prepared by modified Pechini method. The temperature behavior of the zero-phonon emission R-line of the octahedral Cr3+ centres appeared for all powders nearly the same as that of the bulk crystals, evidencing that SrTiO3 retains quantum paraelectric behavior down to a particle size of about 10 nm.
