Hollow Waveguide for Urology Treatment
Original language description
The aim of our work was the application of a special sealed hollow waveguide system for urology treatment. In our experimental study we have compared the effects of CTH:YAG (wavelength 2100 nm) and Er:YAG (wavelength 2940 nm) laser radiation both on human urinary stones (or compressed plaster samples which serve as a reference) fragmentation and soft ureter tissue incision in vitro. Cyclic Olefin Polymer - coated silver (COP/Ag) hollow glass waveguides with inner and outer diameters 700 and 850 um, respectively, were used. To prevent any liquid to diminish and stop the transmission, the waveguide termination was utilized.
