Absorption and photoluminescence of silicate glasses doped by nickel, bismuth, chromium, and copper ions with emission around 1300 nm, that is required for various photonic devices, were studied in dependence on the optically active ion content, glass composition, and implantation of silicon and oxygen ions into the thin surface layer of the glass already doped by optically active element.
