    Passively Q-switched 1645 nm Er:YAG laser resonantly pumped by 1535 nm Er:glass laser radiation was constructed. The system was Q-switched by saturable absorber Co2+:MgAl2O4 and the giant pulses with 58 ns duration and 1.6 mJ energy were generated.
