Influence of Heat Treatment on the Properties of Free Cutting Al-Mg-Si Alloys
Original language description
High temperature mechanical properties of Al-Cu-Pb-Bi (AA2011-T6), Al-Cu-Sn-Bi (AA2111B-T6), Al-Mg-Si-Pb-Bi (AA6262-T8), and Al-Mg-Si-Sn-Bi (AA6023-T8) were characterized up to 350°C. It was found that these alloys show a distinct decrease of impact toughness at temperatures ranging from ~120 to ~255°C, due to liquid metal embrittlement.
