Numerical study of femtosecond laser pulse interaction with water spray target
Original language description
In this contribution, we study the interaction of femtosecond laser pulse with clouds of the droplets ? the influence of the distance of neighbouring droplets on laser pulse propagation inside the cloud or on proton acceleration in various spatial directions. When the distance of neighbouring droplets is lower than the laser wavelength, the laser light is strongly absorbed and reflected on the front side of the cloud (the side irradiated by the laser). The acceleration length of protons is reduced inside the cloud with decreasing distance of neighbouring droplets, which results in lower energies of accelerated protons. For single submicron droplet, the highest number of accelerated protons has been observed at maximum proton energy. However, the numberof protons is decreasing (in average) with their increasing energy for the cloud of droplets. In fact, the energy spectra of protons accelerated in the clouds are a sum of spectra of many expanding single droplets but it also shows some
