Pumping Wavelength Influence on Tm:Ho:CaF2 Ceramics Laser
Original language description
Performance of Tm:Ho:CaF2 (2% Tm, 0.3% Ho) ceramics laser, operating at wavelength 2.1um, pumped successively at 782 nm, 1700 nm, and 1945 nm, is presented. It was found, that the slope efficiency in respect to absorbed pumping power is not significantlydependent on pumping channel. The lowest threshold power was obtained for direct pumping of Ho3+ ions at 1945 nm, but the output power was limited by available pumping power and low absorption coefficient of Tm:Ho:CaF2. The most perspective seems to bethe pumping close to wavelength 1.7um especially if the more powerful laser diodes will be available.
