    The diode (1452 nm) pumped Er:YAG laser system emitting at 1645 nm with 21.4% slope efficiency (respect to absorbed power) was realized. The results obtained with birefringent filter confirm the possibility of wavelength tunability of Er:YAG laser system. The four local maxima were obtained at 1616, 1632, 1645, and 1656 nm. The tunable potential extents the field of usage of this Er:YAG eye-safe mid-infrared diode pumped laser source.
