Monte Carlo Modelling of VR-1 Reactor Core
Original language description
The possibilities of reactor core analysis by precise Monte Carlo codes are gradually in-creasing along with the accessibility of computing power. In the case of zero power re-search reactors, where temperature and burn-up effects remain negligible, model can ap-proximate the reality to a very high degree. In such a case, most of calculation uncertainty can be caused by uncertainties in technical specifications of fuel and reactor internals. Thus performance of the modelling and its predictive power canbe significantly im-proved via comparison with a large set of experimental data that can be acquired during reactor operation and via subtle tuning and improving the calculation model. The paper describes the case for neutronics calculations of VR-1 zero power reactor core.
