Příprava 227Ac z 226Ra ozařováním neutrony
Original language description
Radium-223 is prospective alpha-emitting therapeutic radionuclide for targeted radionuclide therapy. Although 223Ra is formed naturally by the decay of 235U, for practical reasons its preparation involves neutron irradiation of 226Ra. The ?- decay of the227Ra (T1/2 = 43 min.) produced via 226Ra(n,?)227Ra reaction leads to 227Ac, a mother nuclide of 227Th and 223Ra subsequently. Irradiation target radium material is generally available in multi-gram quantities from historical stock. Main aim of this study was to experimentally and theoretically evaluate and verify available literature data on production of 223Ra. According to data obtained from ?-spectra, the approximate yield values were determined and effective cross-section for the 223Ra productionwas calculated.
