Original language description
Nuclear reactors and related components must comply with high standards of reliability and safety in order to operate. The contemporary practice of operating life extensions and reactor power upgrades constitutes new challenges in the process of ensuring safe long-term operation. The primary input data for safety analysis were obtained by means of in-service inspections and surveillance programs. The limitations of surveillance programs, necessitate the need to develop more progressive mechanical testing methods. This work focused on the use of small punch tests for the determination of tensile properties of WER reactor type materials.
