Simulation studies on ion acceleration driven by 10 PW laser
Original language description
Proton acceleration during the interaction of ultrahigh intensity laser pulse with cryogenic hydrogen and plastic targets is investigated here. Although the maximum energy of protons accelerated from these two targets reached similar values, the number of accelerated high-energy protons is substantially higher in the case of hydrogen target. The occurrence of various acceleration mechanisms is discussed in this context.
