Original language description
The Er3+ ion-based lasers, operating on the transition 4I11/2 -> 4I13/2, allow to generate radiation directly in the mid-IR spectral region close to 3 μm. This radiation is interesting for many medical and spectroscopic applications. Nowadays, several coherently pumped systems based on Er-doped crystalline oxides (Er:YAG, Er:YSGG) and fluorides (Er:YLF) are well known. Also there are a several publication deals with the CaF2, SrF2 ceramics and crystals materials. The SrF2 doped by Er3+ is very promising material because it possess low phonon energy. In this paper the laser results and new wide tuning range 123 nm (2690 - 2813 nm) of Er:SrF2 laser at room temperature are presented.
