Homogeneity tests in high energy physics

  • Original language description

Homogeneity tests play a significant role in an analysis of experimental data in the high energy physics. These tests are one way to verify whether measured data and Monte Carlo generated samples come from the same distribution. Monte Carlo samples are weighted, so classical approach can not be used. Therefore, the modification of known homogeneity tests for weighted samples is proposed, namely of Kolmogorov{Smirnov, Anderson{Darling, Cramer-von Mises and Pearson chi-2 test. Asymptotic behaviour of modified tests based on numerical analysis is verified along with the power of test before actual application. Finally, modified tests are applied to data and Monte Carlo samples, which were obtained at DO experiment in Fermilab.
