EVALUATION OF MICROSTRUCTURE IN LASER-WELDED FERRITIC STEEL PLATES USING ELECTRON BACKSCATTER DIFFRACTION AND NANOINDENTATION
Original language description
The results of electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and nanoindentation were compared to describe the microstructure of laser welded ferritic steel plates for high pressure vessels in order to employ laser welding technology in the production of vessels and pipelines. A correlation between the metallographic description of the cross-section of the weld, hardness and EBSD results was found and described. Areas with a lower hardness value showed lower dislocation density on EBSD maps and vice versa.
