Comparison of Residual Stresses and Mechanical Properties of Unconventionally Welded Steel Plates
Original language description
The paper contains results of macroscopic residual stresses and high-cycle fatigue life of unconventionally welded steel plates. Generally, the manufacturing processes of a machine component introduce residual stresses that have an important and may have even essential influence on their behaviour during service life. Therefore, the goal of this contribution was to compare laser and electron weld concerning the distribution of surface macroscopic residual stresses and high-cycle fatigue life. The results, important for further applications of the used technology, are discussed particularly from the viewpoint of possible critical areas near the welds and their impact on fatigue loading.
