Original language description
SpacePix2-L is a Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor dedicated for use in space radiation monitoring. SpacePix2-L contains a matrix of 64x64 pixels with integrated sensitive diodes and pixel electronics for signal processing. Global shutter based data acquisition allows allows continuous sampling of the radiation field and electronic (digital) detector readout. During the sensor exposition period, the pixels measure peak energy deposited in the pixels and digitize it by 10-bit ADC. Detector output frame consist of a matrix of 4096 pixels and each pixel carries a number from 0 to 1023 encoding the maximum energy deposited during the exposition period. SpacePix2-L allows not only registration of single particle but also display their interaction pattern which brings extra information about particle type, incidence angle and character of the radiation in general.

Technical parameters
SpacePix2-L contains a matrix of 64x64 pixels with integrated sensitive diodes and pixel electronics for signal processing. The chip was fabricated in 180 nm SoI technology with a pixel pitch of 60 μm. The chip’s thickness is 300 μm and the sensitive area is 3840 μm x 3840 μm. In addition, the ASIC has the capability of digitization of the backside pulse. Basic operation of SpacePix2-L consists of following steps: power-on, readout mode selection, configuration, measurement and data readout. The chip is powered from three power domains: analog, digital and ADC. Supply voltage of all of them is 1.8 V and they must have the same ground potential. After the chip is powered on, the read-out mode is set, the chip has to be configured. Communication with SpacePix2-L is performed by on-chip Row Shift Register (RSR) with length of 1024 bits. In the measurement phase, the sensor is exposed to radiation and pixels measure and memorize the peak signal value which is read out and digitized in the Data Readout phase.
