We measured the thermal expansion coefficient α of the β - BaB2O4 (BBO) nonlinear crystal to settle the long-lasting dispute existing in the literature. We measured αc ~ 1.0 x 10–6 K–1 and αkc ~ 32.8 x 10–6 K–1 by X-ray single-crystal diffractometry.
