  • Original language description

    The quasiparticle self-consistent GW (QSGW) method is an advanced ab initio method for electronic structure calculations independent of any ansatz or input parameters such as DFT or DFT+U. A short explanation and a basic understanding of this method will be presented, with an example of an application and comparison with DFT calculations for ferromagnetic Heusler alloys Ni2MnX (Al, Ga, In). Additionally, the method is applied to gain insight into the magnetic shape memory effect discovered in Ni2MnGa. One of the electronic structure properties calculated is generalized susceptibility, which provides insight into possible intrinsic system instability.
