Original language description
The coupling of Serpent 2 Monte Carlo code and RINNOVO nodal simulator provides a state-ofthe-art methodology for predicting the behaviour of compact and highly heterogeneous research reactor cores. This includes an accurate calculation of the reactor physics parameters that are related to nuclear safety requirements, such as control rod worths, power distributions and reactivity coefficients. The given capability of Serpent 2/RINNOVO is demonstrated by the 3D full core analysis of the LVR-15 research reactor. The key aspects of this work are generation of burnup dependent nodal cross section data library and a proper nodal representation of two-segment intra-assembly control rods. Considered nodal results are compared with corresponding full core Serpent 2 model to evaluate the validity level of RINNOVO predictions. This includes comparison of eigenvalue under multiple state parameter conditions, control rod worths and power fraction distributions. The presented numerical results indicate a reasonable accuracy for both fresh core and fuel depletion calculations.
