Spectroscopic and laser characterizations of new Tm,Ho:BaF2 and Tm,Ho:SrF2 crystals were investigated. By a direct resonant diode pumping, lasers based on Ho3+ ion generated radiation in the atmospheric windows in the 2 𝜇m region.
