Original language description

In south-eastern Poland are situated the soldiers cemeteries from the World War I. Thirty of them are projected by the Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič. Although they are for the deceased, their architectonic and landscape solution is a masterpiece of anexperienced author who wanted to commemorate the soldiers died in the war. During the World War I when the old social safeties have been demolished, in architecture is also carried out a revolution, called Modernism. Jurkovič was a pioneer of it. But atthe same time he hesitated to leave traditions. In such a tense dialogue he has created the works the value of them outlived his time.
