A Typology of Conservation - Restoration
Original language description
As historic buildings and architectural monuments disappear, one is increasingly compelled to think seriously about the architectural heritage and to reassess conservation approaches. Since its establishment in 1991, the Girsa AT L.t.d. architectural studio has been focused on the care of historic works of architecture, emphasizing conservation approach. In this publication the authors seek to familiarize the readers with the results of their work, and to demonstrate, using a large selection of completed projects, that a sensitive approach to historic monuments is indeed possible. The publication presents a selection of Girsa AT's work in the field for twenty years. Most of the book is devoted to the five most important projects (of which four were carried out and one remained in the planning stages), which met with a positive international response and received the prestigious European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Award.
