Two-Dimensional Cross-Correlation and Morphological Image Analysis Based Marker Detection

  • Original language description

Marker detection is one of the common parts of camera tracking systems used e.g. in image-guided surgery procedures. Different instruments or probes can be tracked by computer during the procedure, where the tracked devices are equipped with passive reflecting objects (markers). These markers are detected and the position of catheter tip or other instruments are calculated based on camera images. In this paper we described an algorithm for marker pattern detection using two-dimensional cross-correlationand morphological image analysis.
