Spontaneous Breathing of Heliox Using a Semi-Closed Circuit Reduces Expensiveness of Ventilation While Preserving the Positive Heliox Effects: A Bench Study
Original language description
The use of heliox for ventilation has an advantage in patients with obstruction of the airways. Heliox breathing reduces airway resistance and work of breathing in patients with airflow limitation. At present, heliox is applied by an open circuit. Disadvantage of this method is high consumption of helium. The aim of the work is test semi-closed circuit for heliox application in order to minimize consumption of helium and, therefore, reduce the expensiveness of spontaneous breathing with heliox.
