Original language description
The paper discusses the requirements for radiation protection in nuclear chemistry which are related to the recent recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection. These recommendations are currently being incorporated into theInternational Basic Safety Standards to be issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency later this year as well as into new relevant Directives of the European Union based on which the legislature of the Member States have to be updated. New international requirements are aimed at further improvement of strict control of radiation sources, their safety and security as well as the minimization of the exposure to workers and members of the public. These tasks would require not only some changes in national systems of radiation protection and nuclear safety, but also appropriate measures should to be taken to train personnel responsible for the implementation of new regulations in order to achieve compliance with international standar
