DETECTION OF PH WITH FIBER-OPTIC DETECTION ELEMENTS
Original language description
Measurements of pH are very important in medicine, biology, chemistry, environmental protection, etc. For such purposes both bulk measurement methods such as potentiometry and spectrophotometry, as well as different sensors including optical ones are used. The research of optical pH sensors is focused on novel absorption and luminescence pH transducers, pH-sensitive detection membranes, novel optical sensing structures, on the development of optical sensors making possible continuous pH detection in patient bodies or in plant and animal cells, etc. This thesis is focused on standard electrochemical and spectrophotometric bulk pH measurements and on characterizations of novel fiber-optic detection elements. It gives the necessary minimum to understand the physical and chemical nature of pH and its measurements and sensing. It also provides some information on existing measuring pH systems and their measuring methodics. Characterization experiments were carried out on U-shaped fiber-opti
