Numerical simulation of droplet motion induced by high power electromagnetic field: Estimation of errors induced by using phase field and level set methods
Original language description
n this paper, numerical models of droplet motion of water-and-oil emulsions induced by external electric field is created in COMSOL Multiphysics. In order to track motion of emulsion phases Level set and Phase field method were used. Both methods definea transition region of certain thickness between the phases where all material properties change smoothly between the values of the material properties of corresponding phases. These transition regions create an artificial layer of dielectric propertieson the interfaces between the phases and thus the dielectrophoretic forces induced by electric field acting on two neighboring droplets are influenced. Here, the effect of the transition region on numerical computation of dielectrophoretic forces and induced motion is studied and some results are presented and discussed.
