Why do local corticosteroid injections work in carpal tunnel syndrome, but not in ulnar neuropathy at the elbow?
Original language description
We read the manuscript by Podnar and Omejec1withinterest. They had commented on a study by vanVeenet al. and the role of corticosteroid injections for treat-ment of carpal tunnel syndrome.2However, we are notat all convinced that exact targeting of the median nervein carpal tunnel syndrome is not necessary. The authorsclaimed that medication delivered close to the carpaltunnel suffices. However,Ustun et al. suggested earlieronset and better symptom relief in their ultrasound(US)-guided steroid injection group (targeting themedian nerve) vs. the blind injection group.3
