Modelling of heat transfer after the laser-tissue interaction
Original language description
Pulse lasers precision and targeted removal of pathological tissue is a major advantage but their use can lead to overheating in the tissue. Rising temperatures in the tissue can cause irreversible damage, the scale of which depends on the temperatures reached and on the duration of exposure to these temperatures. Current research is looking into the possibility of using pulse lasers which, with appropriate repeating frequency, would prevent any undesirable overheating. Using nanosecond pulses with this technology achieves the necessary photoablation while preventing heat stress.
