On Current Pavement Design and Construction Practices in the Czech Republic
Original language description
In the present paper, the questions of design - construction process interaction under current Czech conditions are discussed and answers are sought for their improvement. The performance of a pavement depends in a substantial part on the design conceptsthat were used. The success of any design is also largely dependent on subsequent construction, maintenance and rehabilitation. Proper interaction with design in the early stages can assist the construction in the preliminary project field engineering phase and in setting up preliminary methods for locating materials and establishing quality and quantity control techniques. Feedback from construction to design is equally vital - a design resulting in unusual or unmanageable construction problems could not be regarded as effective.
