Probabilistic Analysis of Time-Variant Structural Reliability
Original language description
The paper provides an overview of achievements of the research project supported by the Czech Science Foundation. The project was aimed at the development of methods for probabilistic reliability analysis of structures exposed to time-variant actions. Recent findings achieved in the theory of structural reliability, theory of probability and mathematical statistics have been considered. Time variability of actions has been approximated by rectangular wave renewal processes with intermittencies. Using the outcrossing approach, available upper bound on the failure probability, related to a reference period, has been improved to obtain sufficiently accurate estimates for serviceability and durability limit states (failure probability greater than 0,001-0,01). In addition a new lower bound on the failure probability has been derived. A simplified method based on expert judgement has been proposed to include statistical correlation among actions.
