UHPC - Assessment of Steel Fibre Distribution and Matrix Homogeneity
Original language description
Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) is high strength cementations material composed of fine aggregates with low water binder ratio and with randomly distributed short fibres. Homogeneity and properties of UHPC depend mainly on the of mix composition, mixing technology and placement of concrete into formworks. It is known that there is high risk of fibre and/or aggregate sit down during setting of fresh mixture. Homogeneity of steel fibre distribution and matrix homogeneity are ones of the most important factors which determine final mechanic -physical properties of UHPC. Homogeneity of matrix and fibres distribution determination is problematic task. It can be investigated out by using different a destructive or non-destructive testing but results evaluation can be very difficult. Optical microscopic method of fibres distribution developed in the Klokner Institute and its application for optimisation of UHPC mixtures will be discussed in article. This method seems to be one practica
