Properties of Historic Full Burnt Brick and Their Finishing
Original language description
When we allow for a building praxis and experiences after repetitive floods it must be evident for perhaps everybody that natural drying of masonry is a lengthy process and depends on many factors. The fundamental factors having an influence on speed ofdrying are both a type and properties of the material and the parameters of surroundings. The research project has dealt with the monitoring of diffusion properties of historic full burnt bricks with regard to their surface finishing at strictly determined surroundings. In the first stage the basic mechanical and physical properties of the tested historic bricks (strengths, density, absorption, porosity) were determined and so the reference parameters were given. In the second stage the speed of the weight losses of the saturated bricks with particular surface finishing were examined. The main task of this project is to assess the impact of the particular surface finishing on diffusion moisture transport in comparison with the reference
