Assessment of existing structures
Original language description
Recently completed documents on assessment of existing structures developed by ISO and CEN are related to the fundamental concepts and requirements of the present generation of codes and standards. The final draft of the CEN Technical specification (TS) was submitted to the technical committee TC 250 of CEN in April 2018. The document concerns all types of bui1dings, bridges and other construction works, including geotechnical structures, exposed to all kind of actions. It contains requirements, general framework of assessment, data updating, structural analysis, different verification methods (partial factors, probabilistic methods, risk assessment, past performance), interventions and assessment of heritage buildings. The submitted contribution provides background information on the principles accepted in the ISO and CEN documents and practical example of assessment of existing panel building. It includes also proposals for further revisions of current documents and suggestions for development of national standards and operational guidance.
