Original language description
František Rieger (1904-1986) according to his genealogical tree, he was most likely a great-grandson of a cousin of František Ladislav Rieger, the renowned lawyer and politician) after brief careers at the Masaryk?s Labour Academy and the Philips a.s. company, he accepted a civil employee post at the Low-Voltage Laboratory of the Military Institute in Letňany and the Postal Technical Testing Institute at Žižkov, in particular in the fields covering aerial and cable leads, telegraphy and telephony. Immediately after the end of the 2nd World War in July 1945, Rieger applied with the deanship of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering for the conferment of a so-called venia docendi covering the area of low-voltage electrotechnology. Low-voltage electrotechnology had gradually developed into one of the two independent backbone lines taught at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU.
