Material Analysis Using Characteristic Transmission Spectra
Original language description
Measuring the X-ray photon flux together with evaluation of the transmittion spectra can solve this problem. The well known Dual-energy X-ray technique works with two radiograms, differing by distinct X-ray source spectra, acquired from the same point ofview. Thus, both density and material composition can be resolved by this way. Since the TimePix pixel single photon counting detector is energy sensitive, we can use it for measuring the energy spectra of the X-ray beam transmitted through the inspected sample. This can be done in each detector pixel by measuring the energy of single X ray photons. The event-by-event measurement has to be performed with low X ray photon flux to avoid overlapping of individual events in individual pixels. It will be shown that higher accuracy can be reached by this method in comparison with the integrating Dual Energy Method.
