Search for Neutrino-less Double Beta Decay with the SuperNEMO Experiment
Original language description
SuperNEMO is a unique Neutrino-less Double Beta Decay (0νββ) experiment currently in last phase of construction of its first prototype – a demonstrator module. Among the other features, its unique-ness in the field lies in the possibility of topological reconstruction of double beta decay events. It is possible thanks to employment of field consisting of 2034 tracking wires in Geiger mode which are able to reconstruct the electron trajectories. In the demonstrator phase SuperNEMO will study around 7 kg of 82Se. Expected sensitivity of 0νββ half-life should reach 6 x 1024 yr (90% C.L.) after 2.5 years of operation. Main goal of the project is to build another 19 modules of demonstrator type reaching to 0νββ half-life sensitivity level of 1026 yr with more than 100 kg of studied isotope. In the talk, the SuperNEMO project will be introduced.
